Governors and Mayors Proclaim National Window Film Day

A Tweet Chat on National Window Film Day April 30th Will Be Offered By The International Window Film Association To Offer A Clear View On The Many Benefits of Window Film

Washington, DC – April 30, 2015 – The International Window Film Association (IWFA) announced today that the Governors of Hawaii, Massachusetts and Virginia have proclaimed National Window Film Day on April 30th. In addition the Mayor’s of Austin, Chicago, Fort Myers, and St. Petersburg have also declared the day, recognizing the many benefits of window film, including the economic impact that the production, installation and energy savings that window films provide.

In honor of the day, the IWFA is hosting a Tweet Chat on Twitter about the use of window film on National Window Film Day. From 2:00 pm-2:30 pm EST on April 30, 2015, consumers are invited to use and follow the hashtag #WindowFilmDay for answers and insights into making their home more comfortable and more protected from UV damage.

The proclamation from Governor David Ige of Hawaii encourages, ‘the citizens of the Aloha State to join us in recognizing those who manufacture, distribute and install window film and to recognize the industry association for educating the public on the many benefits of window film.”

Massachusetts Governor Charles ‘Charlie’ Baker’s proclamation in part states, “Window film has been proven to be one of the most cost-effective means of reducing our carbon footprint.”

Virginia’s Governor Terrence McAuliffe official recognition in part states, “The window film industry contributes to a strong economy in Virginia by providing consumers and businesses a cost-effective means of saving energy, and creating job opportunities.”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proclamation in part states, “Window film helps to screen and filter dangerous solar rays, a vital part in sustaining the health of commercial drivers, by actively protecting them from the potentiality of skin cancer.”

“We are very proud and excited that in its second year, National Window Film Day has received such significant public recognition, and we are also grateful to the many public officials who support the mission of the IWFA,” said Darrell Smith, executive director of the IWFA. Smith also recognized the invaluable contributions of the IWFA’s member manufacturers, which include 3M, Eastman Chemical, Hanita Coatings, Johnson Laminating & Coatings, KDX Optical Materials, Madico Window Films and Saint-Gobain Solar Gard.
