IWFA and the Skin Cancer Foundation Celebrate National Window Film Day and Skin Cancer Awareness Month
Washington, D.C. – April 24, 2025 – The International Window Film Association (IWFA) is pleased to announce the return of National Window Film Day! National Window Film Day is observed annually on April 30th, and various U.S. governors and mayors issue proclamations recognizing the importance of window film. For instance, in the past 10 years, over 30 U.S. governors, including those from the IWFA’s home in Virginia, officially proclaimed April 30 as National Window Film Day.
This year, the International Window Film Association is proud t to highlight it’s work with the Skin Cancer Foundation, and their Skin Cancer Awareness Month beginning May 1st. Skin Cancer Awareness Month is observed every May to raise awareness about the dangers of skin cancer, promote prevention strategies, and encourage early detection. It’s a key time for healthcare professionals, organizations, and individuals to educate others about how to protect their skin from harmful UV rays and recognize warning signs of skin cancer.
The IWFA and the Skin Cancer Foundation have been collaborating for the past several years with the combined goal of helping to educate consumers about the benefits of Window Films when it comes to the UV protection quality films possess. Professionally installed window film can. block up to 99% of harmful UV rays, helping to protect skin and furnishings from sun damage. UV radiation is one of the leading causes of Skin Cancers in both the United States and globally according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
IWFA Technical Consultant Lisa Winckler, who has been working closely with the Skin Cancer foundation since 2023, expressed gratitude for the joint work both associations have been doing in the field, stating “From speaking at IWFA Education Day in Orlando, to co-branding announcements, the Skin Cancer Foundation is committed to getting the word out about the benefits of Window Films, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the initial results of this collaboration.
